Debra Messing – An American Actress

Debra Lynn Messing (born August 15, 1968) is an American actress, voice artist, and comedienne. She is perhaps best known for her role as Grace Adler in the NBC sitcom Will & Grace and as Molly Kagan in the mini-series The Starter Wife.
Messing has been nominated for a total of six Emmy Awards, eight Golden Globe Awards and eight Screen Actors Guild Awards. In 2003 she won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for her performance in Will & Grace. In Open Season, she was the voice of Beth.
Messing was born in the Brooklyn borough of New York City, the daughter of Sandra (née Simons), who has worked as a professional singer, banker, travel and real estate agent, and Brian Messing, a sales executive for a costume jewelry packaging manufacturer. Messing is Jewish, a descendant of immigrants from Russia and Poland. When Messing was three, she moved with her parents and her older brother, Brett, to East Greenwich, about 15 miles from Providence, Rhode Island.
During her high school years, she acted and sang in a number of high school productions at East Greenwich High School, including the starring roles in the musicals Annie and Grease. She took lessons in dance, singing, and acting. In 1986, she was Rhode Island’s Junior Miss and competed in Mobile, Alabama in the America’s Junior Miss scholarship program. While her parents encouraged her dream of becoming an actress, they also urged her to complete a liberal arts education before deciding on acting as a career. Following their advice, she attended Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts. During her junior year, she studied theater at the prestigious London-based British European Studio Group program, an experience that solidified her desire to act.
In 1990, after graduating summa cum laude from Brandeis University with a bachelor’s degree in theater arts, Messing gained admission to the elite Graduate Acting Program at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts which accepts approximately fifteen new students annually. She earned a Master’s Degree in Fine Arts after three years.
In 1993, Messing won praise for her acting in the pre-Broadway workshop production of Tony Kushner’s play Angels in America: Perestroika.[1] Subsequently, she appeared in several episodes of the television series NYPD Blue during 1994 and 1995.
In 1995, Messing made her film debut in Alfonso Arau’s A Walk in the Clouds playing the unfaithful wife of main character Paul Sutton (Keanu Reeves). This exposure led the Fox network to make her the co-star of the television sitcom, Ned & Stacey. The series lasted for two seasons, from 1995 to 1997. Messing appeared as Jerry Seinfeld’s date in two episodes of the series Seinfeld: “The Wait Out” in 1996 and “The Yada Yada” in 1997. Messing turned down a starring role in another television sitcom to appear in Donald Margulies’s two-character play Collected Stories, which opened at the Off Broadway Manhattan Theater Club. She also co-starred in the Tom Arnold vehicle McHale’s Navy in 1997.
In 1998, Messing played a lead role as the bio-anthropologist Sloan Parker on ABC’s dramatic science fiction television series Prey. During this time her agent approached her with the pilot script for the television show Will & Grace. Messing was inclined to take some time off, but the script intrigued her, and she auditioned for the role of Grace Adler, beating out Nicollette Sheridan, who later guest-starred on the show as a romantic rival of Grace’s. Will & Grace became a ratings success, and Messing became a star.
In 2002, she was named one of the “50 Most Beautiful People in the World” by People Magazine. TV Guide picked her as its “Best Dressed Woman” in 2003. Messing was cast by director Woody Allen in a small role in his 2002 film Hollywood Ending. Her film roles since include a happily married but ill-fated wife in the supernatural thriller The Mothman Prophecies (2002) and a supporting role in Along Came Polly (2004). The Wedding Date (2005) was Messing’s first leading role in a high-profile film. It received mixed reviews but performed fairly well at the box office. Messing was featured as a judge on the season finale of the second season of Bravo’s reality show, Project Runway. Also in 2005, along with Megan Mullaly, she was awarded the Women in Film Lucy Award in recognition of her excellence and innovation in her creative works that have enhanced the perception of women through the medium of television[8] She also starred in the television mini-series The Starter Wife, which was nominated for ten Emmy awards including one for Messing for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Miniseries or Movie.
In 2008, Messing reprised her role as Molly Kagan in the television series The Starter Wife, consisting of 10 episodes.[9] In early 2010, Messing starred in the ABC comedy pilot Wright vs. Wrong for the 2010-2011 primetime season but the pilot was not picked up by ABC.
In early 2011, it was announced that Messing will star in a new NBC musical pilot called Smash for the 2011–2012 primetime season. In May 2011, it was reported that NBC had picked up the show as a series for the 2011-2012 season.
In 2011, Messing was ranked No. 22 on the TV Guide Network special, Funniest Women on TV.
Messing met her husband, Daniel Zelman, an actor and screenwriter, on their first day as graduate students at NYU in 1990. They were married on September 3, 2000, and live in New York City. On April 7, 2004, Messing gave birth to their son, Roman Walker Zelman. She and her husband recently separated after ten years of marriage.

Jeffrey Lynn Green – A Basketball Player

Jeffrey Lynn Green (born August 28, 1986) is an American professional basketball player with the Boston Celtics of the National Basketball Association. Green attended Georgetown University until following his junior year, when he entered the 2007 NBA Draft. He was selected fifth overall by the Boston Celtics, and was subsequently traded to the Seattle SuperSonics in a trade including Ray Allen. The SuperSonics moved to Oklahoma following his rookie year and became the Oklahoma City Thunder. On February 24, 2011, Green was traded along with Nenad Krsti? and a future first round draft pick to the Boston Celtics for Kendrick Perkins and Nate Robinson.
Jeff Green was born in Cheverly, Maryland to Jeffrey Green Sr. and Felicia Akingube. He attended Northwestern High School in Hyattsville, Maryland, where he led the NHS Wildcats to the state basketball championship in 2004.
Green was recruited to Georgetown University by coach Craig Esherick in 2003. However, Esherick was fired before Green arrived on campus and John Thompson III was hired as the new coach. The two top recruits of Esherick’s tenure, Green and center Roy Hibbert, would be the key components of Thompson’s future success. Standing 6’9″, Green played forward under Coach John Thompson III. He was the captain of the squad. Thompson stated in a Sports Illustrated interview: “You’ll stop and think when I say this, but it’s true: Jeff Green is the smartest player I’ve ever coached. You would know this better than most: that’s a hell of a statement.”
Jeff Green won the 2005 Big East Rookie of the Year award along with Rudy Gay of the University of Connecticut. In addition, Green was named to the All-Big East Second Team in 2006 along with teammate Roy Hibbert. In 2007, Green and teammate Roy Hibbert were unanimous selections to the All-Big East First Team. After his 30-point performance in the 2007 Big East Tournament semi-final against Notre Dame and his 21-point performance in the championship against the Pittsburgh, Green was also named Most Outstanding Player of the 2007 Big East Tournament as the Hoyas went on to claim their first Big East title since 1989.

Green was named the 2007 Big East Player of the Year. Jeff Green led the Hoyas on an impressive, relentless run to the Final Four in the 2007 NCAA Tournament, beating Belmont and Boston College in the first two rounds. Green would be remembered for beating Vanderbilt off a game-winning shot in the game’s closing seconds as well as fearlessly leading the Hoyas to victory against #1 seed UNC, in a stunning second-half comeback victory and bringing the Hoyas back to their first Final Four since Patrick Ewing led them to the 1985 National Championship game. The Hoyas eventually lost to Greg Oden and the Ohio State Buckeyes, bringing the Hoyas’ remarkable title run to a close, as well as Jeff Green’s collegiate playing career, as he would forgo his senior year and enter the NBA Draft.

On June 28, 2007, Green was taken 5th overall in the 2007 NBA Draft by the Boston Celtics. He was later involved in a blockbuster trade that sent veteran guard Ray Allen along with the fifth pick in the second round (#35 overall, LSU Tigers’ Glen Davis) to the Boston Celtics in exchange for Wally Szczerbiak, Delonte West, the 5th overall selection and a future second-round selection to the Seattle SuperSonics. Since the deal was not made prior to the 2:00 pm deadline, the Celtics chose Green for the Sonics’ with the fifth overall pick. Green shortly after signed a deal to be represented by David Falk, the agent of Michael Jordan, and became the first player to sign with Falk since John Lucas III in 2005.
After trading Ray Allen and drafting Kevin Durant, it was clear the Supersonics were in rebuilding mode. After talks of a new arena in Seattle broke down, it was evident that a big change was coming. The Supersonics finished the season at 20-62. Green had a productive rookie season, making the NBA All-Rookie First Team along with teammate Kevin Durant. Green averaged 10.5 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 1.5 assists and started 52 games. He also played in the 2009 Rookie-Sophomore Challenge where he scored 13 points and snagged 2 steals in the Sophomores’ win.
After the season, the Supersonics were sold and moved to Oklahoma City to become the Thunder. Green wore the number 22, the same number he wore with the Sonics. The first season in Oklahoma City would be tough as the team did not have immediate success. The Thunder made big splashes in the draft, drafting Russell Westbrook and Serge Ibaka. Green also made a big improvement from his rookie season, averaging 16.5 points, 6.6 rebounds, 2.0 assists and a steal a game. The Thunder struggled to 23-59, leading to the firing of coach P. J. Carlesimo in the middle of the season.
The Thunder again made big splashes in the NBA draft, this time drafting James Harden, and trading for rookie Eric Maynor as well as defensive minded guard Thabo Sefolosha. The Thunder had a big year and rebounded from years of losing. Green started in all 82 regular season games and averaged 15.1 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.6 steals and about a block a game. The Thunder finished a 50-32 and became the eighth seed in the playoffs, where they met Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers. The Thunder were eventually eliminated 4-2. Green averaged 11.8 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 1.7 assists in the series.
In Boston, Green was thought of being a future replacement for aging All-Stars Kevin Garnett or Paul Pierce. Green struggled getting acclimated with his new team. After averaging 15.2 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.8 assists in Oklahoma City, Green only averaged 9.8 points, 3.3 rebounds, and .7 assists in Boston. Green saw a big drop in minutes per game as well, dropping from 37.0 minutes to 23.4 minutes. The Celtics had a good year, making it to the playoffs as the number three seed in the Eastern Conference. They swept the New York Knicks in the first round. In the next round, however, they were later eliminated by LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and the Miami Heat. Green became a restricted free agent at the end of the season.

Jose Rene Martinez – An Actor

Jose Rene “J. R.” Martinez (born June 14, 1983) is an American actor, motivational speaker and former U.S. Army soldier. Since 2008 he has played the role of Brot Monroe on the ABC daytime drama All My Children, and was the winner of Season 13 of ABC’s Dancing with the Stars. On November 1st, 2011, the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Association picked Martinez as the Grand Marshal of the 2012 Rose Parade. On December 17, 2011, J.R. announced that he and his girlfriend Diana Gonzalez-Jones are expecting their first child, a daughter, in the spring of 2012.
In 2003, Martinez sustained severe burns to over 40 percent of his body while serving as a United States Army infantryman in Iraq. Following his recovery, he has traveled around the country speaking about his experiences to corporations, veterans groups, schools, and other organizations.
Martinez was born in Shreveport, Louisiana, on June 14, 1983, to Maria Zavala. He is of Salvadoran and African-American descent. He has two sisters who were raised with his mother’s family in El Salvador, and his sister Anabel died before Martinez ever had the chance to meet her. Martinez has never met his father.
At nine years old, Martinez moved with his mother to Hope, Arkansas. At 17, just before his senior year of high school, he moved to Dalton, Georgia, and played strong safety for the Dalton High School Catamounts. In his senior year, Martinez suffered an injury that derailed his plans to play professional football.
In September 2002, Martinez enlisted in the United States Army and underwent Basic and Advanced Training at Fort Benning, Georgia, where he acquired skills as an 11B (Infantryman). After reporting to Fort Campbell in January 2003, he was assigned to Delta Company, 2nd Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment of the 101st Airborne Division.

Two months later, Martinez was serving as a driver of a Humvee when the driver’s side front tire hit an IED; he suffered smoke inhalation and severe burns to more than 40 percent of his body. He was evacuated to Landstuhl, Germany, for immediate care and transferred to Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC) in San Antonio, Texas. He spent 34 months at BAMC and has undergone 33 cosmetic and skin-graft surgeries.
During his time in recovery, a nurse asked him to speak to a burn patient, who had just seen his body for the first time and had become withdrawn. After an approximate 45-minute visit, the patient opened the curtain letting light into his room. J. R. then understood the impact he had on this patient and decided to use his experience to help others, visiting with several of the patients in the hospital, sharing his story and listening to theirs.
He is called on by a wide range of groups, including large corporations, veterans groups, non-profits and schools, and has shared the stage with the likes of global self-help guru Tony Robbins and Evangelist Dave Roever. In 2008, Martinez was honored as a “Shining Star of Perseverance” by the WillReturn Council of Assurant Employee Benefits. In 2009 Martinez was honored by the non-profit Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA) with the Veterans Leadership Award, given in recognition of his dedication to our nation’s newest generation of veterans. Martinez has been featured in The Washington Post, People magazine, on CNN’s Sunday Morning, on TV show 60 Minutes, and other major national news outlets.
In 2008, Martinez was cast in ABC’s daytime drama, All My Children in the role of Brot Monroe. His character also served with the U.S. Army in Iraq and was injured in combat. Martinez first appeared on the program on Friday, November 7, 2008.
Martinez first began providing support to fellow burn survivors while being treated for his burn injuries at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio Texas. Presently he serves as a member of the Board of Directors of The Phoenix Society for Burn Survivors. He first attended the Phoenix Society’s World Burn Congress in 2008, and was a featured speaker at the 2010 World Burn Congress. Martinez has had a fellow burn survivor, Jenna Bullen, attend taping of “Dancing with the Stars” as his guest and has taped a public service announcement with her on behalf of the Phoenix Society for Burn Survivors.

Meteor Shower – An Event

A meteor shower is a celestial event which saw a number of meteors that radiate from a point in the night sky. These meteors are caused by streams of cosmic debris called meteoroids enter Earth’s atmosphere at very high speeds on parallel paths. Most meteors are smaller than a grain of sand, so almost all of them are broken and do not hit the surface of the Earth. Unusual meteor showers are known as meteor outbursts and meteor storms, which can produce more than 1,000 meteors per hour. Because meteor shower particles are all traveling in parallel paths, with the same speed, they all seem to an observer below to radiate from a single point in the sky. The radiant point is caused by the perspective effect, similar to railroad tracks converging at a single vanishing point on the horizon as seen from the middle of the tracks. Meteor showers are almost always the name of the constellation from which meteors appear to originate. This “fixed point” slowly moves across the sky during the night due to the Earth spinning on its axis, the same reason, the stars appear to move slowly across the sky. The radiant also moves slightly from night to night against the background stars (radiant drift) due to the Earth moves in its orbit around the sun. See “IMO” Meteor Shower Calendar 2007 (International Meteor Organization) for maps of drifting “fixed points”. Meteor showers are named for the nearby bright star with a Greek or Roman letter assigned which is close to the radiant position at the peak of the rain, by replacing the decline in the possessive form of America ” id “or” identifiers “. Therefore, the meteors radiate from near the star-delta Aquarii (decline “-i”) are called Aquariids delta. Group of the International Astronomical Union Working Group on Meteor Shower Nomenclature and the IAU Center meteor track data nomenclature and meteor showers down. A meteor shower is the result of an interaction between a planet like Earth, and the waste streams of a comet. Comets can produce debris by water vapor drag, as demonstrated by Fred Whipple in 1951, and disintegration. Whipple provided comets as “dirty snowballs” made up of rock embedded in ice, orbiting the Sun. The “ice” may be water, methane, ammonia or other volatile compounds, alone or in combination. The “stone” can vary in size from a speck of dust to a small stone. Dust mote sized solids are orders of magnitude more common than the size of grains of sand, which, in turn, are also more frequent than the size of pebbles, and so on. When heated ice sublimates and vapor can drag along dust, sand and pebbles. Each time a comet changes by the Sun in its orbit, some of its ice evaporates and a number of meteorites that was shed. The meteoroids spread throughout the comet’s orbit to form a meteoroid stream, also known as “dust tail” (instead of “dust tail” of a comet caused by very small particles that are easily washed by solar radiation pressure). Recently, Peter Jenniskens has argued that most of our meteor showers are short-term resistance to water vapor normal active comets, but the product of rare decays, when large chunks of a comet emerge most inactive. Examples are the Quadrantids and Geminids, which originated from a rupture of the asteroid looking objects 3200 Phaethon and 2003 EH1, respectively, 500 and 1000 years ago. The fragments tend to disintegrate quickly in the dust, sand and pebbles, and extends along the comet’s orbit to form a dense meteor shower, which then becomes the way of Earth. Shortly after Whipple predicted that the dust particles traveled at low speeds compared with the comet, Plavec Milos was the first to offer the idea of ??a trail of dust, when we calculated the meteroids, once released from the comet, derives mainly from the front or behind the comet after completing one orbit. The effect is simple orbital mechanics – material moves only slightly laterally out of the kite to drift, while in front or behind the comet because some particles to a larger orbit than others. These dust trails are sometimes observed the comet on images taken at mid-infrared wavelengths (heat radiation), where dust particles around the Sun before extending along the comet’s orbit ( see figures). The gravitational pull of planets determines that the dust trail that passes through the orbit of the Earth, like a gardener directing a hose to water a plant distant. Most years, the paths would be lost completely from the earth, but in some years, the Earth is bathed by the meteors. This effect was demonstrated for the first time from observations of alpha Monocerotids 1995, [4] [5] and identifications not previously known of the dust storms of the past. In the 1890s, Irish astronomer George Johnstone Stoney (1826-1911) and the British astronomer Arthur Matthew Weld Downing (1850-1917) were the first to try to calculate the position of dust in the Earth’s orbit. The researchers studied the dust ejected by the comet in 1866 before returning 55P/Tempel-Tuttle Leonid shower early 1898 and 1899. Meteor storms were anticipated, but the final calculations showed that most of the dust would be far inside the orbit of Earth. The same results were independently arrived at by Adolf Berberich of Astronomisches Rechen Königliches Institut (Royal Astronomical Computation Institute) in Berlin, Germany. Despite the absence of meteor storms of the season confirmed the calculations, the advancement of much better tools needed to get reliable predictions. In 1985, ED and EA Reznikov Kondrat’eva Kazan State University first correctly identify the years when the dust was released responsible for several past Leonid meteor storms. In anticipation of the 1999 Leonid storm, Robert H. McNaught David Asher, Esko Lyytinen of Finland and were the first to apply this method in the West. Peter Jenniskens has published predictions for the future of the dust trail encounters, resulting in “meteor storms” or “meteor outbursts” in the next 50 years. For long periods of time, the dust lanes can evolve complicated. One effect is that the orbits of some comets is repeated, and meteoroids leaving them, are in resonant orbits with Jupiter or one of the major planets to other people – as many revolutions will equal a different number of revolutions of the other. So with time as Jupiter have the same relative position intermittently and tend to pull meteoroids to maintain that relative position. This creates a shower component called a “filament”. A second effect is a close encounter with a planet. When meteorites passing close to Earth, some are accelerated (making wider orbits the Sun), others are decelerated (as short orbits), leading to gaps in the trail of dust in the next turn (as the opening a curtain, with grains accumulate at the beginning and end of the gap). In addition, disruption of Jupiter, you can change the sections of the dust trail dramatically, especially for short-period comets, when the grains approach the big planet its farthest point along the orbit around the Sun , moving more slowly. As a result, the track has a clumping, or a tangle of twisted half-moon of each individual delivery of material. The third effect is that radiation pressure, which will promote lower-mass particles in orbits farther from the sun – while the most massive objects (responsible for bolides or fireballs) tend to be less affected by radiation pressure. This makes some dust trail encounters rich in bright meteors, others rich in faint meteors. Over time, these effects disperse the meteoroids and create a broader stream. The meteors we see of these streams are part of annual rainfall, because the Earth is with the currents of each year, while the same rate. When meteorites collide with other meteoroids in the zodiacal cloud, they lose their current partnerships and become part of the “sporadic meteors” background. Scattered long way from any stream or form isolated meteors, not part of any shower. These random meteors seem to come from the main shower’s radiant. The most spectacular meteor shower is probably the Leonids, the meteor showers king of the peaks in one day near November 17. Approximately every 33 years the Leonids produce a “meteor shower”, arriving at rates of thousands of meteors per hour. These Leonid storms gave birth to the “meteor shower” term, when he first saw during the storm of November 1833 that the meteors radiated from near the star Gamma Leonis. The last Leonid storms were in 1999, 2001 (two) and 2002 (two). Before that, there were storms in 1767, 1799, 1833, 1866, 1867 and 1966. When Leonidas is no assault is less active than the Perseids.

Christopher Paul – A Basketball Player

Christopher Emmanuel Paul (born May 6, 1985) is an American point guard basketball career for the Hornets in New Orleans. Paul was born and raised in North Carolina. Despite only playing two seasons of basketball in high school, was a McDonalds All-American and accepted a scholarship with nearby Wake Forest University. After his second year with the Demon Deacons, stated for the project. Since being selected fourth overall in the 2005 NBA Draft by the New Orleans, Paul has been Rookie of the Year (2006), a four-time All-Star, and a multi-award winning All-NBA and All Defensive. He led the Hornets to the second round of the 2008 NBA playoffs. He has also won an Olympic gold medal with the national basketball team of the United States.
Off the field, Paul is an outstanding player and a spokesman bolus sponsored by the United States Bowling Congress (USBC). He has participated in numerous celebrities and youth bowling events as the director of the CP3 Foundation benefit programs in Louisiana after Hurricane Katrina, and charities in Winston-Salem.
Chris Paul was born in Lewisville, North Carolina in 1985 as the second son of Charles Edward Paul and Robin Jones, two years after Charles “CJ” Paul in 1983. Charles and Robinson were childhood friends who grew up in Winston-Salem and were members of Dreamland Park Baptist before marrying in 1982. A former athlete himself, Charles taught his children to play basketball and football coach at various youth events throughout his childhood. Paul was a gifted athlete, going to the national championship Pop Warner football as a quarterback and linebacker Junior Titans Pee Wee team Lewisville, and winning several national championships in basketball AAU 14U.
In addition to sports, the brothers Paul spent his summers working at the cash register, rotating tires and air filters Chevron Jones, a service station owned by his grandfather, Nathaniel Jones in the side of Robin’s mother. Affectionately known as “Papa Chile” throughout the community, Jones had operated the station, Jones had operated the first of these African-American operated service stations in North Carolina since 1964 during the heyday of the civil rights movement. Paul describes his grandfather as his “best friend” and credits many life lessons for him.
In 1999, Paul started attending school at West Forsyth High in Clemmons, North Carolina, where CJ was already a young star point guard. Despite the talent of Paul, who was at a significant disadvantage due to its 5 ft 0 in (1.52 m) tall. Paul chose to play in the JV basketball team his freshman and sophomore years, believing that the opportunity to gain confidence and experience in the joint venture would be more beneficial than sitting on the bench for the varsity. Meanwhile, Paul grew to 5 feet 2 inches (1.57 m) in its second year.
The time Paul was promoted to the varsity team as a junior, had graduated CJ. Paul’s brothers ended up playing on the court for 15 seconds, by the end of a playoff game in the second year of Paul and CJ last year in 2001. Paul, who sprang another eight inches to 5 feet 10 inches (1.78 m), posted 25.0 points, 5.3 assists and 4.4 steals per game to help West Forsyth (26-4) reach the State semifinals. [10] During the following summer, Paul emerged as a highly recruited base. With his family watching, Paul signed his letter of intent to play at Wake Forest coach Skip Prosser for his senior year before. Only 13 miles away from where he grew up in Dallas, Paul had already verbally committed to them during their first year and Demon Deacons attended many practices and games.
Tragically, one day after signing his letter of intent, the body of Nathaniel Jones was discovered by the father of Paul. Jones died after being beaten and robbed by a group of teenagers and unloaded groceries from your car in your garage. Five teenagers Jones tied his hands behind his back with duct tape his mouth, and beat him in the head and face. Jones, who had a history of heart problems, was in his garage and died of heart arhythmia. He was 61. More than 2,000 people honored the memory of Jones at his funeral, four days later. The next day, driven by the suggestion of an aunt, an emotionally devastated Paul scored 61 points in honor of his grandfather, one point for each year his grandfather lived, in the first game West Forsyth 2002-03 season.
Despite Paul’s previous career high was 39 points at halftime, he had accumulated 32 points in 16 minutes. When Paul reached the mark of 61 points at the end of last quarter, intentionally airball a free throw, then took the game to embrace his family on the bench, although the state scoring record of 66 school points was within reach. In 2003, Paul averaged 30.8 points, 9.5 assists, 5.9 rebounds and 6.0 steals per game the rest of his senior year and led his team to a 27-3 record and Class 4A East Region final. It was a 2003 McDonald All-American and Jordan Brand Classic participant and was named the North Carolina Mr. Basketball for 2003 by The Charlotte Observer.
Paul attended Wake Forest University and played for the Demon Deacons for two seasons, leading the school to two NCAA tournaments and a Sweet Sixteen appearance. In the first year of Paul, started and made an immediate impact. He was named the ACC Rookie of the Year, Third Team All-ACC Honorable Mention All-American and national freshman of the year by several publications as an average of 14.8 points and 5.9 assists per match and helped the Demon Deacons reached the Sweet Sixteen Tournament 2004 NCAA Men’s Division I Basketball before losing to San Jose. Paul also opened five freshman records at Wake Forest, three point percentage, free throws, free throw percentage, assists and steals.
Paul also won ACC Defensive Team honors during his stay at Wake and was one of the Consensus First Team All-Americans in its second year. He was also a call to ESPN The Magazine 2005 Academic All-America team with an average of 3.21 degrees and a selection of the third term. [12] At the time it declared eligible for the 2005 NBA Draft in its second year, which ended near the top of nearly every offensive category at Wake Forest.
After his sophomore year, Paul declared eligible for the 2005 NBA Draft. The Demon Deacons went 48-16 (.750) in games played in. Paul Chris Paul took second place among the leaders of Wake Forest’s all-time career as a percentage of 3-point shots (.469) and seventh in assists and steals.
Paul was selected fourth overall in the New Orleans Hornets in the first round of NBA Draft 2005. Due to the devastation of Hurricane Katrina that summer to the city of New Orleans, Paul did not play his first full season in New Orleans. Instead, the team played in various fields and moved to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The Hornets only played three games at New Orleans Arena.
Keep playing in Oklahoma City, Paul continued his impressive rookie campaign with a second solid season. He improved his scoring average of 17.3 points, and improved his average with 8.9 assists per game. He averaged 4.4 rebounds per game. Paul was filled season of injuries, though, as he was limited to playing only 64 games.
Paul was named an All-Star in 2007, but was appointed to replace Steve Nash in the 2007 PlayStation Skills Challenge during the weekend All-Star. He played in the Rookie Challenge T-Mobile and distributed 17 assists and nine steals, both records T-Mobile Rookie Challenge. When interviewed in the Rookie Challenge, Paul vowed that he would be a next season of the Stars, as the All-Star Game to be held in New Orleans.
The 2007-08 season brought the full return of the Hornets to the city of New Orleans. Emerging as a true superstar, Paul averaged 21.1 points and 4 rebounds, and led the NBA in steals with 2.71 per game and assists with 11.6 per game. He was selected by NBA coaches to play in the 2008 NBA All-Star Game, which was organized by the city of New Orleans, thus fulfilling his promise of last season. The Virginia Tech Massacre was a school shooting that took place on April 16, 2007, on the campus of Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in Blacksburg, Virginia, USA. In two separate attacks approximately two hours apart, the perpetrator, Seung-Hui Cho, killed 32 people and wounded 25 others before committing suicide. The slaughter is the deadliest shooting incident by a single gunman in U.S. history. It was also the worst act of mass murder on college students from Syracuse University lost 36 students in the bombing of PanAm Flight 103.
Cho, an English student at Virginia Tech, had been diagnosed with a severe anxiety disorder. For much of his high school and secondary school years, receiving therapy and special education support. After graduating from high school, Cho enrolled at Virginia Tech. Due to federal privacy laws, Virginia Tech was not informed of a previous diagnosis of Cho, or the type of accommodation was granted in school. In 2005, Cho was accused of harassing two students. After an investigation, a special justice declared Cho mentally ill Virginia and ordered to attend treatment. Lucinda Roy, professor and former chair of the English Department had also asked Cho seek counseling. Cho’s mother also spoke to the church.
The attacks received international media coverage and provoked widespread criticism from U.S. law and culture. It sparked an intense debate about gun violence, gun laws, gaps in the U.S. system for the treatment of mental health problems, the author’s condition of mind, the responsibility of college administrations, [8] privacy laws, journalism ethics, and other topics. The television news organizations that aired portions of the murderer’s multimedia manifesto were criticized by victims’ relatives, officials of law enforcement in Virginia, and the American Psychiatric Association.
The slaughter was the state of Virginia to close the loopholes that had previously allowed Cho, an individual adjudicated as mentally insane, to purchase firearms without being detected by the National Instant Criminal Background Criminal System (NICS). It also led to the approval of the first major federal action on gun control more than 13 years. The law of strengthening the PRI was signed by President George W. Bush on January 5, 2008.
The Review Panel Virginia Tech, a state-appointed body assigned to review the incident, criticized Virginia Tech administrators for not taking action that could have reduced the number of victims. The panel’s report also reviewed gun laws and pointed out gaps in mental health care and privacy laws that left Cho’s deteriorating condition in college untreated.
Cho used two firearms during the attacks: a .22 caliber Walther P22 semi-automatic pistol and a 9 mm semi-automatic Glock 19 pistol. The shootings occurred in two separate incidents, the first in the West Ambler Johnston Hall, where Cho killed two students and the second in Norris Hall, where the other 31 dead, including Cho himself, as well as all nonfatal injuries that occurred.
Cho was seen near the entrance to West Ambler Johnston Hall, a residence that is home to 894 mixed students, at approximately 6:45 am EDT. The room was normally only accessible to residents via magnetic card before 10 mailboxes student Cho was in the lobby of the building, which had an entry card access after 7:30 am, but it is unclear how it was obtained before entering the building.
Cho killed his first victim around 7:15 am at West Ambler Johnston Hall. By that time, Cho entered the room freshman Emily J. Hilscher shared with another student. Hilscher, 19 years old, of Woodville, Rappahannock County, Virginia, was killed. After hearing the shots, a male resident assistant, Ryan C. Clark tried to help Hilscher. Clark, 22 years old, most of Martinez, Columbia County, Georgia, was fatally shot. Hilscher kept alive for three hours after being shot, but no school, hospital or police notified his family until after she had died.
Cho left the scene and returned to his bedroom. While police and emergency medical service units were responding to gunfire at the door of the bedroom next door, Cho changed his clothes stained with blood, connected to your computer to delete your e-mail, and then hard disk is removed. About an hour after the attack, Cho is believed to have been seen near the duck pond on campus. Although authorities suspected Cho threw his hard drive and mobile phone in the water, the search was unsuccessful.
Almost two hours after the first murders, Cho appeared in a local post office and mailed a package of writings and video recordings of NBC News, the package was postmarked 9:01 a.m. Then he turned to Norris Hall . In a backpack, wearing several chains, locks, a hammer, knife, two guns and nineteen 10 – and 15-round magazines, and nearly 400 rounds of ammunition.
About two hours after the initial shooting, Cho entered Norris Hall, which houses the program Engineering Science and Mechanics, among others, and chained the three main gates closed. He put a note in at least one of the doors chained, arguing that attempts to open the door cause a bomb to explode. Just before shooting began, a faculty member found the note and took the third floor of the building to notify the school administration. At the same time, Cho had started the shooting students and teachers on the second floor, the bomb threat was never called in within one or two minutes of the first shots, the first 911 call was received.
According to several students before the shooting began Cho looked at several classrooms. Erin Sheehan, an eyewitness and survivor who was in room 207, told reporters that the shooter “looked twice” before the lesson and that “it was strange that someone at this point in the semester would be lost, in search of a class. ” Cho’s first attack after entering Norris occurred in a class of advanced engineering hydrology taught by Loganathan GV teacher in room 206. Cho first shot and killed the teacher, and then continued firing, killing nine of the 13 students in the room and injuring two others. Then Cho went across the hall to room 207, in which the instructor Christopher James Bishop was the teaching of German. Cho killed the bishop and four students, six students were injured. Cho then moved on to Norris 211 and 204. In these two classrooms, Cho was initially prevented from entering the classroom by the barricades erected by the instructors and students. In room 204, Professor Liviu Librescu, a Holocaust survivor, Cho forcibly prevented from entering the room. Librescu was able to keep the door closed until the majority of his students to escape through the windows, but died after being shot several times through the door. One of the students in her classroom was killed. Jocelyne Couture-Nowak Instructor and student Henry Lee were murdered in room 211 in an attempt to barricade the door.

In 1987 came out as gay, becoming the first member of Congress to do so voluntarily. From 2007 to 2011, Frank served as president of the Financial Services Committee, where is the ranking Democrat.
Frank Barnett Frank was born into a Jewish family in Bayonne, New Jersey, one of four children of Sam and Elsie. Frank’s father made a truck stop in Jersey City – a place of Frank described as “totally corrupt” – and was one year in prison, when Frank was 6 or 7, for refusing to testify before a grand jury against Uncle Frank . Frank was educated at Harvard University, where he lived in Matthews Hall his first year and then in Kirkland House and Winthrop House, where he graduated in 1962. Frank undergraduate studies were interrupted by the death of his father, Frank took a sabbatical to help resolve family issues before graduation. He taught undergraduates at Harvard while studying for his doctorate in government, but left in 1968 before completing the degree, to become assistant chief of Boston Mayor Kevin White, a position he held for three years. Frank later graduated from Harvard Law School in 1977, while serving as state representative in Massachusetts.
In 1972, Frank was elected to the Massachusetts House of Representatives where he served for eight years. Frank made a name for himself in the 1970′s as political advocate of the combat zone known red light district of Boston. Neighborhoods in the district of Frank combat zone limits. As a means of combating crime in the area (including violence, police corruption and the infiltration of organized crime), Frank introduced a bill in the General Court of Massachusetts, that would have legalized the sex trade to pay, but kept him in quarantine in a Red Light District, who have moved to Boston’s financial district. In 1980, Frank ran for the U.S. House of Representatives in the fourth congressional district, with the hope of succeeding Father Robert Drinan, who had left Congress following a call by Pope John Paul II priests to withdraw from political positions. In the Democratic primary on September 16, 1980, Frank won 52% of the vote in a field of four candidates. [9] [10] As the Democratic candidate, Frank faced Republican Richard A. Jones in the general election and won narrowly, 52% -48%.
For his first term, Frank represents a district in the suburbs west and south of Boston, Brookline and anchored by his hometown of Newton. However, in 1982, redistricting forced him to run against Republican Margaret Heckler, who represented a district centered on the south coast, including Fall River and New Bedford. Although the new district set Frank keeps the number of district – the fourth – which was geographically more Heckler district. Frank focused on the initial support Heckler tax cuts of President Ronald Reagan, and won with 60% of the vote.
Frank did not face another serious race again for a quarter century. From 1984 to 2008, he won election again 12 times with at least 67% of the vote.
In 2010, Frank took his mandate 16. Public opinion polls showed Frank is facing its first credible challenge since he defeated Heckler, in 1982. He faced Republican Sean Bielat, a veteran of the U.S. Navy and business. In mid-September, an internal survey showed 48% principal Frank -38%. In late October, who lent his campaign $ 200,000. In early October, the Cook Political Report changed its assessment of the area of ??”strong democratic” to “likely Democratic” – which means that while Frank was favored, a Bielat victory could not be excluded completely. While Frank had a 3 to a breakthrough in terms of cash, Bielat outraised him in September. On 25 October, a survey showed Frank Boston Globe principal of 46% -33%. Bielat released a television ad showing Frank dancing in a disco ball, with the message that he was “dancing around the issues.” Frank won re-election of his term 16, 54% -43%.
On November 28, 2011, Frank said at a news conference that he would not seek reelection in 2012.
In 1985 Frank was locked up yet. That same year he hired Steve Gobie for sex, a prostitute, and became friends more sexual partners. Gobie and Frank is hired him with personal funds as an assistant, housekeeper and driver and paid for his counsel and the court ordered a psychiatrist. In 1987, Frank began Gobie out after he was advised by his owner that governments keep guard despite the support and did in the residence. Later, friends Gobie years convinced him that there was a gay version of the Mayflower Madam, a TV movie that had been watching. In 1989, Gobie tried to start a bidding war for the history between WUSA-TV (Channel 9), the Washington Times and The Washington Post. He then gave the history of The Washington Times for nothing, hoping to get a contract for a book. Amid calls for an investigation of Frank asked the House Ethics Committee to investigate their relationship “in order to ensure that the public record is clear.” The Committee found no evidence that Frank had known or been involved in the alleged illegal activity and dismissed all claims Gobie’s more scandalous is recommended reprimand Frank with his congressional office to fix 33 parking tickets for Gobie and errors made in a memorandum on file Gobie probation. The House voted 408-18 to reprimand Frank. Attempts at censorship and expulsion of Frank were led by Republican Larry Craig, whom Frank criticized the hypocrisy behind the arrest Owner Craig lewd conduct in 2007 for soliciting sex while gay in an airport bathroom. Frank won re-election that year with 66 percent of the vote, winning by more scope to the 2010 elections, when Frank won only eleven points.
Frank is known for his quick wit. In a famous phrase that said he could not complete its consideration of the Starr Report details the relationship of President Bill Clinton with Monica Lewinsky, complaining that it was “too read about heterosexual relationships.” In 2004 and again in 2006, a survey of Capitol Hill staff members published in Washingtonian gave Frank the title of “smarter”, the “fun” and “most eloquent” member of the House. In 2008, the same poll named him “smarter” and the runner-up “workhorse”, and “most eloquent” in 2010 was named “smarter”, “horse”, and “more fun.” It is also widely regarded as one of the most powerful members of Congress. The proposal, supported by the head of Fannie Mae, which reflects the government’s belief that Congress “has not the tools nor the stature” for adequate oversight. Frank said: “These two entities … we are not facing any kind of financial crisis … The more people exaggerate these problems, the more pressure there is on these companies, the less we will see in terms of affordable housing.” In 2003, Frank also noted that calls his “famous roll of the dice”: “I do not want the same kind of focus on safety and soundness [in the regulation of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac] we have in the Comptroller’s Office of the Currency and the Office of Thrift Supervision. I want to roll the dice a little more in this situation in public housing. “In July 2008, Frank said in an interview on CNBC:” I think this is a case in Fannie and Freddie are fundamentally sound, that are not in danger of sinking. They are the best investments these days from long-term view of return. I think he’s in good shape in the future. “
Frank was criticized by conservative organizations campaign contributions totaling $ 42,350 between 1989 and 2008. Bill Sammon, the Washington managing editor for Fox News Channel, said the donation of Fannie and Freddie influenced his support of their lending programs, and said that Frank did not play a strong enough in reforming the institutions in the years before the economic crisis of 2008. In 2006, a representative of Fannie Mae indicated that the SEC “has not participated in large numbers of these nontraditional mortgages in 2004 and 2005.” In response to criticism, Frank said: “In 2004, it was Bush who started to push Fannie and Freddie in high-risk mortgages because they were boasting about how they were the expansion of housing for low-income people. And I said at the time, “Hey -. (A) this will jeopardize their profitability, but (b) going to put people in houses they can not afford, and that they will lose ”
In 2009 Frank had a 100% rating from NARAL Pro-Choice America indicating a voting record in favor of abortion. He opposed the bill, which was approved unanimously by the Senate, civil liberties and constitutional grounds. Frank said of the vote, “I think it is very likely to be declared unconstitutional. It is true that when civil liberties are often defend people who do bad things … You play the hand when they are left to cause in the exaggeration. I do not want these thugs to make the claim that America is hypocritical. “The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People he scored 100% in 2006, indicating a position in favor of affirmative action.

Brees had a poor output, but always two rushing touchdowns important, just before halftime to cut the deficit to 24-10, and one in the third quarter to give the Saints their first lead of the game, 37-34.

Thanks Giving – An Event

Thanksgiving is a holiday, celebrated primarily in the United States and Canada. Thanksgiving is celebrated every year on the second Monday in October in Canada and the fourth Thursday of November in the United States. In Canada, Thanksgiving falls on the same day as Columbus Day in the United States. Due to the long tradition of the festival, the celebration extends to the weekend that falls closest to the day that is celebrated.
Thanksgiving in the United States originated from a mixture of European and indigenous traditions. Usually in Europe, the festivals were conducted before and after harvest cycles to give thanks for a good harvest, and to rejoice together after much work with the rest of the community. At that time, Native Americans were also celebrated the end of harvest season. When Europeans first came to America, they brought with them their own harvest festival traditions in Europe, celebrating his safe journey of peace and good harvest. Although the origins of the holiday in Canada and the United States are similar, Americans are celebrating the contributions made in Newfoundland, while Canadians celebrate the contributions made in Plymouth, Massachusetts.
The origin of the first Thanksgiving in Canada goes back to the browser Frobisher Martin, who had been trying to find a northern passage to the Pacific Ocean. Frobisher Thanksgiving celebration was not for harvest, but in gratitude for having survived the long trip from England through the dangers of storms and icebergs. In his third and final trip to these regions in 1578, Frobisher held a formal ceremony in Frobisher Bay on Baffin Island in Nunavut today to give thanks to God and service issued by the preacher Robert Wolfall Communion is celebrated, the first service in these regions. Years later, the tradition of the party continue as the settlers began arriving in the colonies of Canada.
When settlers came many more in Canada, most of the good harvest celebrations became common. New immigrants in the country, as the Scots Irish and Germans, also add their own traditions to the celebration of the harvest. Most aspects of the U.S. Thanksgiving (like turkey or what was called Guineafowls from Madagascar), joined the United Empire Loyalists began to flee the United States during the American Revolution and settled in Canada.
In the United States, the modern Thanksgiving tradition is rooted in a celebration of 1621 in Plymouth, Massachusetts, today. There is also evidence of a celebration before the continent by Spanish explorers in Texas, San Elizario, in 1598, and the Thanksgiving holiday in the colony of Virginia. The first celebration of Thanksgiving in Virginia in 1619 was driven by settler leaders on the anniversary of the solution. The 1621 celebration and thanksgiving Plymouth was motivated by a good harvest. In later years, the tradition was continued by the civilian leaders, like Governor Bradford who planned a celebration of thanksgiving and fast in 1623. Although initially, the Plymouth Colony did not have enough food to feed half of the 102 settlers, the Wampanoag Native Americans helped the pilgrims for the supply of seeds and teach them to fish. The practice of holding an annual harvest festival of this kind did not become a normal affair in New England until late 1660.
The reason for the celebration of Thanksgiving in Canada before it has often been attributed to the earlier onset of winter in the north, ending the season earlier harvest. Thanksgiving in Canada do not have a fixed date to the late 19th century. Before the Canadian confederation, many of the individual colonial governors of the Canadian provinces had declared their own day of Thanksgiving. The first official Canadian Thanksgiving occurred on April 15, 1872, when the nation was celebrating the Prince of Wales’s recovery “from a serious illness. In the late 19th century, Thanksgiving Day is normally held on 6 November. However, when World War I ended, Armistice Day, was held usually during the same week. To prevent the two days of fighting each other, in 1957 the Canadian Parliament proclaimed Action Thank you held your present day on the second Monday in October. Since 1971, when the American Uniform Monday Holiday Act came into force, the observance of Columbus Day in America coincided with the celebration of Canadian Thanksgiving.
Thanksgiving in the United States as in Canada, there has been at various times throughout history. The dates of Thanksgiving at the time of the Founding Fathers to Lincoln’s time was decided by each state at different times. The first Thanksgiving was held on the same date for all states was in 1863 by presidential proclamation. The last Thursday of November it had become the usual date of Thanksgiving in most U.S. states in the early 19. And so, in an effort by President Abraham Lincoln (influenced by the campaign of author Sarah Josepha Hale, who wrote letters to politicians about 40 years trying to make an official holiday), to foster a sense of unity between North America and Southern States, proclaimed the date as the last Thursday of November.
It was not until December 26, 1941 that changed the date for the fourth Thursday unified (and not always final) in November, this time by federal law. President Franklin D. Roosevelt, after two years before offering his own proclamation to move the date earlier, with the reason for giving the country an economic boost, agreed to sign a bill in Congress, making Thanksgiving a national holiday fourth Thursday in November.
